Shred vs Claw, Rip vs Ferocious Bite

Fully Talented

• Shred + Rip = 284.637 dps
• Shred + Ferocious Bite = 270.000 dps
• Claw + Rip = 276.747 dps
• Claw + Ferocious Bite = 258.760 dps

Fully talented, Shred is better than Claw, and Rip is much better than Ferocious Bite.

Finisher Combo Points

Using Shred, and Rip as the finisher. While ripping at 5 combo points give the best energy to damage conversion, many believe that the wasted combo points when critting on a shred at 4 combo points will mean that it may be better to rip at 4 combo points. This is what the simulations show:

1. Shred + 5 Combo Points Rip = 284.459 dps
2. Shred + 4 Combo Points Rip = 283.018 dps
3. Shred + 3 Combo Points Rip = 278.251 dps
4. Shred + 2 Combo Points Rip = 264.603 dps
5. Shred + 1 Combo Points Rip = 215.579 dps

22.5% crits is used for the above runs. With higher crits, it is likely that more combo points will be wasted. Following are the simulation runs for the above runs repeated with 30% crits instead.

1. Shred + 5 Combo Points Rip = 300.402 dps
2. Shred + 4 Combo Points Rip = 299.150 dps

Very little has change, and it is still better to Rip at 5 Combo Points.
